It sounds so simple: As individuals, corporations and as a country, we all stand to benefit from improvements in the quality of life at work and at home.

But why is this simple reality so difficult to achieve?

One reason is that the workplace model we use today was created at a time when gender roles were rigidly defined – women took care of the home and family while men went to work. Today, women outnumber men in the Canadian workforce, and both genders are responsible for domestic affairs, which they must attend to of on top of full-time jobs.

Companies that adapt to this cultural shift are not only being socially responsible, they are also equipping themselves for success by attracting and retaining the best employees.

Coming soon – Work & Family Association
Work & Family Association is a new corporate partnership led by WFFC. It will provide leading Canadian organizations an opportunity to connect with each other as peers while learning about workplace management issues. Our goal is to foster collaboration among members that will help them to develop “family-responsible” policies that benefit both employees and businesses. Quarterly meetings will be held beginning in 2012 on topics of interest to the organization seeking to become an employer of choice. Meetings will feature an expert presenter as well as best-practice sharing from our members. We hope you will consider joining Work & Family Association and invite you to learn more by contacting us.
